My First Visit
Now that you have an appointment with the Wound Treatment Center, you may be contacted by the hospital to collect and verify personal and insurance information. This phone call will help reduce some of the forms you will need to fill out at the Center. For your convenience, you may also pay your co-pay at the time of the phone call!
On the day of your appointment, come directly to the Wound Treatment Center. You do not need to go to the hospital to be registered, all registrations will occur in the Center. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Arriving early will help complete the needed registration process and allow us to keep your visit on schedule.
Each patient, whether self or doctor referred, will be evaluated by the specially trained staff to establish a treatment plan specifically for you. You may have diagnostic tests, labs and/or non-invasive vascular studies performed. This will help our physicians identify the type of wound and other conditions that may be causing your problem wound.
Once your treatment plan is established, you will visit the Center weekly until discharged from the wound program. Your wound(s) will be evaluated every visit for progress, or lack of, and will be addressed for a change in treatment plan by the physician. You will be instructed on wound dressing changes and basic techniques to care for your wound between Center visits. In some cases, when appropriate, you may be referred to Home Health for care of the wound between visits.
